True Vine is a free church, pursuing congregational polity and prayerfully managed by a church council that answers to the Lord and the local congregation. Our pastor is considered a servant-leader who makes disciples alongside of us. We believe local churches are the best form of the kingdom of God on earth and are cautious of synods, bishops, and committees that view themselves as above the congregation. We seek to work side by side with other Gospel-centered and evangelism-minded local churches. We affiliate with the AFLC (See www.aflc.org) and also work with Celebrate Recovery (www.celebraterecovery.com) and our pastor is involved with the Lutheran Evangelistic Movement (www.lemdeeperlife.org.). Our pastor is also involved with global discipleship initiative (www.theglobaldiscipleshipinitiative.org).

Our pastor is James L. Johnson, a Gospel-centered preacher who enjoys people and preaches the Bible verse by verse. Jim and wife Linda are native Minnesotans who have served the Lord together for 30 years. Jim graduated from the University of Minnesota and has a Masters Degree from the Free Lutheran Seminary in Plymouth, MN. Linda, who was raised in nearby Dalbo, MN, near Cambridge, is an alum of Minnesota-State Moorhead. They have raised nine adult children, all of whom profess to follow the Lord Jesus Christ. Jim is on the clergy roster of the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations, and is a long-time board member of an associated fellowship called the Lutheran Evangelistic Movement (LEM).
